Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Is Officially Announced, And It Should Run on Steam Deck

Of all the JRPG series that exist right now, The Legend of Heroes is one of my top 2. The series, which I call the Trails series, is filled with deep gameplay, solid stories, and multiple entries that all connect to each other to create a world that is constantly changing with characters we follow along throughout multiple journeys. Since developer Nihon Falcom decided to remake the first entry of the series, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, I have been anxiously waiting for the announcement of the second game. And yesterday, we finally officially got it, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter has been announced.

While it was heavily implied at the end of the 1st Chapter, getting official confirmation from publisher GungHo was even sweeter. It started off with a trailer posted on YouTube (the trailer contains spoilers from the first game, so be warned before watching it), and we now have the official announcement. The new game will be released in Fall 2026, and will be available on PS5, Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, and on Steam. And yes, a Steam page for the game is up, so we can wishlist it right now.

They also posted the game’s minimum specs, which are identical to the previous game, asking for a Ryzen 5 1600 CPU, GTX 1050 GPU, and 8GB RAM. With how well 1st Chapter runs on the Steam Deck, I have a lot of confidence that 2nd Chapter will run about the same. Being able to play and experience the Trails series on the go has been a blast, so being able to continue that will be fantastic. It also looks like there will be bonuses to redeem if you have save data from the previous game too, so that’s just a plus.

Personally, I couldn’t be more excited to continue Estelle’s story in this new light. I loved what they did with the 1st Chapter, and I am glad English voice acting will return for 2nd Chapter. I enjoyed it in the first, so I am glad to see it will continue.
