Playing our PC games on the go has been one of the best ways to experience my Steam library, and I love seeing the handheld options we have. To add to that, there have been many rumors circulating that Xbox would also be adding their names to the handheld list, and today, they officially revealed their own handheld from their Xbox Showcase: The ROG Xbox Ally.

The handheld will be coming in two forms, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, and will be releasing in the holiday this year. The ROG Ally will be using a Ryzen Z2A APU, have 16GB RAM, a white shell, and 512GB of storage. On the other hand, the ROG Ally X version will have a Z2 Extreme APU, 24GB RAM, a black shell, and 1TB storage.
Looking into it, I am not sure the difference between the Z2A and Z2E chips, but I can guarantee that the Z2E chip will be more powerful. So, if you want the most power, the Ally X variant will be the way to go. Both of these chips have improved performance over the Z1 and Z1E chips in the original ROG Ally and ROG Ally X, so we should be able to play most games on it. On top of that, this Xbox-branded ROG Ally will have a dedicated Xbox button, a re-designed interface to work with the Xbox app, Xbox-inspired controls, and Impulse Triggers.
There isn't much more information released just yet, but the device will be coming out in the holiday of this year. We will update the article with more information as its revealed, but at least we know Silksong is coming out this year!

I mean... it's not really an Xbox handheld, it's just a ROG Ally but with the Xbox brand slapped on it. The only thing that could make this worthwhile to me compared to the Steam Deck or even just the regular Ally would be Microsoft working on some kind of amazing handheld-optimized version of Windows 11.
Even then I'll probably stick with my Deck. Happy for anyone who'll be picking this up, though!
The unfortunate part is that these devices, while great and premium on paper, don't compete well on price/value vs something like the Steam Deck.
Regardless,I'm looking forward to seeing what Microsoft manage to cook up for W11 to make it much more handheld-friendly, as is their "side quest" now.
Yep. Valve has the unique opportunity to sell the Deck at a loss; since they take a decent cut of any sale made on Steam they know that someone buying a Steam Deck will probably be making them a pretty good amount of money from the game sales.
