Hungarian indie developers Save Sloth Studios and Bristol-based indie publisher Yogscast Games announced that The Royal Writ is all set to release on PC via Steam on Thursday, August 7.

The Royal Writ

Players will dive into the realm of Aranfold at the beginning of the game. Most people love, ignore, or are afraid of the King Mikolt. He’s the Bandit Leader who loves to loot other kingdoms. His loyal legion of lizards, bugs, bats, and other barely qualified fighters is released to restore order in the violence.

Picture-book visuals, delightful humour, and frequent fatalities are merged together in The Royal Writ. Make sure to compete across ever-changing battle layouts of one to three rows. With this unique layout allowing for dealing massive damage and multiplication modifiers.

Build the perfect squad of cannon-fodder and clutch-carrying creatures to balance your strategy. Upgrade your fighters in the middle of battles using several items like relics and gear, or events like horse racing, or a trip to the dentist. Upgrading the fighter allows you to dodge anthills, spike pits, creeks, and mushroom fields, as they’re dangerous.

Simon Byron, Managing Director, Yogscast Games, says, “The Royal Writ rips up the rulebook and offers a unique lane-based deckbuilder where sentiment and loyalty go out the window in the pursuit of victory. As the self-proclaimed home of the roguelike deckbuilder, we’re excited to see our community build weird armies, watch them die, mourn them briefly, then throw their replacements into battle five minutes later.”

Each card plays an essential role in the game. Unlock the different synergies in The Royal Writ and use new strategies to meet every challenge the game has to offer.
