The Necromancer's Tale looks like a fantastic gothic RPG. You play as a young noble who is drawn to the necromatic arts, where you will have to balance power with your weird descent into madness. It gives me some minor Disco Elysium vibes, which is great, thanks to its gigantic story-rich emphasis with over 400,000 words of written narrative and lore. It also had a new update over the last week that makes it better to play on the Steam Deck.

In their latest Steam Community Post, developer Psychic Software went over the last week of patches they made for the game, which included some that make playing on the Steam Deck better. The size of character stats on the side of the screen in the prologue has been reduced for 16:10 aspect ratio resolutions, and they mention that a bunch of work on compatibility has been underway. They are in the Verified review process as well, so hopefully, this will get them the green checkmark.

Even though they are making changes now, the game has been playable on the Steam Deck since February this year. In a separate post, the team mentions the game runs at 60 FPS on full graphics settings at native resolution, has controller support, cloud saves, and has its own on-screen keyboard and virtual mouse.

The patches also address some bugs and add new options. There's a new setting to show all icons at the same time, scaling buttons to resize the control bar, chapter 11 has been expanded, wording has been improved for better clarity, and spell failed sounds have been improved.

There are a bunch of other fixes as well, and you can check them out in the changelog via their Steam Community Post.
