While racing games may not be my forte, playing them on the Steam Deck would be my only way to do it. As such, I have been interested in The Crew Motorfest. I love open-world games, and being able to drive around and explore the Hawaiian islands of O'ahu and Maui sounds awesome. However, as of right now, the game is not that great on the Steam Deck, garnering the Unsupported rating with some mixed ProtonDB reports. Luckily for myself and other racing fans, that's about to change.

The Crew Motorfest

Recently, Ubisoft made a blog post outlining the upcoming Season 8 improvements and additions for The Crew Motorfest, and right there at the bottom, it mentions that the game will be Steam Deck Verified on November 5th. It doesn't specify exactly what will be changing or what they will be doing to make this happen, but it is happening, and that's awesome to see:

Either way, the changes are going to be pretty significant across the board. Ranked Grand Races are making their debut, where you can get your own rank and grow it as you race against others online. There will be five ranks to start, and if you keep pushing your rank up, there will be exclusive rewards that change each season. There's also now the ability to adjust the stance to fine-tune your car's height and wheel alignment.

New officially branded rims are coming from different brands, 63 in total to be exact, and we will be able to customize them with new colors and material finishes. There's also a new crew management menu to make it easier to manage and find new players to play with.

But my favorite change is going to be the friend pass. You can invite up to three friends to play with for free, and none of them has to own the game. There are no time limits; all that matters is that the person inviting them owns the game and that they are on the same platform (Steam to Steam, PS5 to PS5, etc.).

Overall, it's a pretty significant update, and with Steam Deck compatibility coming, I couldn't be more excited to dive in!

The Crew Motorfest can be purchased on Steam for $69.99.
