As a fan of games like Path of Exile, Striving for Light looks incredible. It's a top-down Action RPG with roguelite mechanics and what they claim to be an infinite skill tree. Maps are randomly generated, the skill tree itself is also randomly generated and infinitely expanding, and it has a solid amount of endgame systems. It all sounds too good to be true, and with the latest update, we are getting a brand new build for those playing on the Steam Deck.

Striving For Light

With this new update, the game now has a native Linux version! While this doesn't directly include optimizations or improvements for the Steam Deck, using a native version of the game reduces some overhead needed for the Proton compatibility layer, and while it's small in the grand scheme, it's helpful regardless. This is now the default version of the game for those playing on the Deck.

The new update also includes tons of improvements taken from feedback, which is pretty awesome to see. The endgame has five new map tiers, as well as redesigned maps and map tier indicators, there are now less traps and they collide with item drops, and charge attacks have been reworked. We also have performance improvements across the board, along with an engine upgrade, and there have been some balancing tweaks, like increased evasion chance and dodge regeneration, swirl and revert shots have a capped distance increase, and flood now has a reduced cooldown reduction.

You can check out the full changelog for the update via their Steam Community Post.
