A new update to the SteamOS beta branch was released with some extra fixes and new support for upcoming handhelds. Specifically, support for handhelds with the new Intel ARC-G APU is starting to get support with initial firmware, while there was a crash fix for GTA 5 Enhanced and a regression that could result in audio popping.

You can download the updates yourself in the System Settings on the Steam Deck. Make sure your update channel is set to Beta or Preview for the beta update, while the stable update should just be available in any update channel.

SteamOS 3.8.7 Beta Update Changelog:

New in 3.8.7

  • Fixed a GPU crash with Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced
  • Fixed a regression with previous 3.8 builds that could result in audio popping
  • Fixed Remote Play capture in Desktop Mode when the Wayland session is selected
  • Fix Bluetooth not working on some Intel handhelds
  • Add initial firmware for upcoming Intel handhelds
  • Improved UI behavior when low on battery and connected to a slow charger
  • Actually fixed an issue on certain TCL TVs where the display may remain blank using the Steam Deck Dock when VRR is enabled (requires a Dock firmware update)
