A new Steam Deck Beta Client update has been released that focuses on fixing some demo-related issues, which would have been perfect during the Next Fest last week. Installed demos will no longer show that they are playable if they are no longer available, and newly added demos and free-to-play games will rightfully appear at the top of the most recent games list in your library.
You can download the update yourself in the System Settings on the Steam Deck. Make sure your update channel is set to Beta or Preview.

- Newly added demos and free to play games will appear at the top of the recent games list.

I feel like Valve has slowed down on fixing bugs for the Steam Deck. Don’t get me wrong, during its first year it was a total mess, and at the time I regretted buying it because it felt awful compared to my flawless Switch experience. But even now, compared to the Switch, the Deck still lags behind in areas like plug-and-play for docked mode, has some annoying issues with the built-in FSR, and much of the Steam UI doesn’t work well (or at all) with a controller. This year, I expected Valve to make big improvements in that regard with upcoming hardware, but I couldn’t have been more wrong.
