I remember playing Skate 2 and Skate 3 fondly on my PS3 back in the day, so I am personally very excited for skate. The third-person skating game is said to be coming to early access on Steam this year, and will see us going around the multiplayer world of San Vansterdam. It's something I am excited to see more of and learn about, but it doesn't sound like it will be something we get to enjoy doing on the Steam Deck.

According to their newest Steam Community Post, the game is not going to be supported on any platform outside of Windows, including the Steam Deck. They mention that, while they want to bring the game to as many platforms as possible, it will not be available on SteamOS or using Proton at all:
We want to bring skate. to as many platforms as possible and will continue to listen to feedback and look at the feasibility of adding new platforms in the future, but for Early Access launch, MacOS, SteamOS, Proton/Linux will not be supported.
Full Circle - Developer of skate.
This is most likely going to be due to the EA Javelin anti-cheat the game will be using, which is a kernel-level anti-cheat that is not compatible with operating systems that aren't Windows. Hopefully, we will see some changes to make it accessible and playable on the Steam Deck when it releases outside of early access, but time will tell.
In the community post, the team answered some other questions about private servers and online access. Privately hosted servers won't be available at launch, but the team has a plan in place for them, while you won't need PlayStation+ or Xbox Game Pass Core to access online features. They also mentioned something for the advanced Replay Editor, and this being a live service skate., which does worry me a little, but I will stay optimistic. Any mention of live service right now leaves a worrying taste in my mouth. Still, I am excited, and I can't wait to see what the game will be like.

skate. can be wishlisted on Steam right now.
