Bandai Namco reveals more details on Shadow Labyrinth in a new trailer, delving deep into the PAC-MAN-inspired platformer on PAC-MAN’s 45th anniversary, which is due to release on July 18th.

Shadow Labyrinth

Shadow Labyrinth is an upcoming 2D action-exploration platformer set in a dark Sci-Fi world of PAC-MAN and other legendary arcade games. PAC-Man was first released in Japanese arcades on May 22, 1980 and Shadow Labyrinths' new gameplay trailer showcases the original game to take us back to memory lane. The game takes players on an epic journey on a hostile planet where danger is everywhere, and you find a mysterious companion, PUCK, who shares his wisdom. You’ll survive and explore the maze world of Shadow Labyrinth and consume your way through to become the apex predator.

As shown in the latest reveal, a dark vision of the PAC-MAN universe factors large in the game, with PUCK as both guide and a source of powerful – and often familiar – skills and abilities. Taking on the role of a warrior named Swordsman No. 8, and accompanied by PUCK at every turn, players explore this vast world to discover powerful weapons and overcome formidable foes, along the way uncovering terrifying secrets about the planet and its inhabitants. The game maintains the iconic PAC-MAN gameplay with some new mechanics, and some familiar bosses like G-HOST Bug.

Besides new details on Shadow Labyrinth’s take on PAC-Man adventure, Bandai Namco is also celebrating PAC-Man Day today with special partnerships and activations. Fans can dive into the newly released PAC-MAN™ Cookbook, which offers creative takes on cuisine by drawing from classic game elements such as the Ghosts and Power Pellets. Krispy Kreme is making this a sweet time to be a PAC-MAN fan, offering limited-edition PAC-MAN-themed doughnuts and a special PAC-MAN Day promotion selling a dozen Original Glazed® doughnuts for just 25 cents with the purchase of any dozen at regular price.

The celebration extends to the world of sports through official partnerships with the Los Angeles Angels and Club América, bringing PAC-MAN into stadiums and fan experiences. Additionally, a nationwide blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross will launch later this year as part of PAC-MAN’s “Make imPACt” campaign.

The PAC-MAN-inspired adventure, Shadow Labyrinth, releases on July 18, 2025, on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch™, and PC via Steam.
