We've known default game profiles for the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds have been coming for a while now, but the day is finally here, with the feature entering a preview phase. Just make sure your Xbox app, Armoury Crate app, and Windows operating system are up to date. To kick things off, 40 games have received default profiles, which automatically apply optimized settings for your ROG Xbox Ally handheld. This is done by applying a TDP limit and FPS lock in Armoury Crate to keep the framerate stable and power consumption as low as possible.

The 40 games that have been chosen include the obvious big hitters, like Fortnite, Black Ops 7, Forza Horizon 5, Halo: Master Chief Collection, and Minecraft.

There have also been some other improvements to the handheld experience, including quicker library loading in the Xbox app, a filter to see how well games in your library perform on your handheld, as well as improvements to gamepad response.

Those of us on Steam/SteamOS know that it's pretty clear when our progress has been uploaded to the cloud, but it's not quite as obvious on the Xbox app. An update next week will add an indicator to let players see when their progress has been uploaded to or downloaded from the cloud.
