Dragon Age: Inquisition Proton Experimental

A new Proton Experimental update was released with a couple new fixes and some new playable games. One Shot: Fading Memory and Impulse Response are now playable, while we have fixes for Surviving Deponia’s playtest, Far Cry, and Warhammer: Vermintide 2 all should be working properly again.

However, the biggest part of this update is easily Dragon Age: Inquisition's controller support being fixed. Before this, the only way to fix controller support was using a specific version of Proton made by the community (DAIProton), but with this fix, we shouldn't need it anymore.

The new update should automatically download if you already have the experimental layer. If not, just search for Proton Experimental in the Steam store on your Steam Deck and download.

Proton Experimental 8/28/26 Update Changelog:

  • Now playable: One Shot: Fading Memory, Impulse Response.
  • Fixed controllers not working in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
  • Fixed Proton 11 regressions:
    • Surviving Deponia Playtest is playable again.
    • FLY'N now starts in fullscreen properly.
    • Mugsters should no longer display the taskbar over the game with certain window managers.
    • Far Cry will no longer be uninteractible after switching to a different application and back on SteamOS.
    • Warhammer: Vermintide 2 should no longer display the title bar in fullscreen mode with certain window managers.
