A new Proton Experimental update was released yesterday, and it is quite an interesting one. A new game called..."VIDEO GAME" is now playable with Proton, while Star Wars Outlaws and Hell Let Loose got some updates to make sure they are playable and not crashing. There were also some experimental regressions for issues found in Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin and Ghostbusters.
Most interestingly, there is initial work for Speech Synthesis that has been added, and has already been confirmed to work with one game so far: Infinite Stars - The Visual Novel. I can't say I am 100% sure what this is exactly, but it appears to be something like text-tp-speech technology. Regardless, you will have to manually download Proton Voice Files to get it working.
The new Proton Experimental update should automatically download if you already have the experimental layer. If not, just search for Proton Experimental in the Steam store on your Steam Deck and download.
