Today, some brand new information for the upcoming Persona 5 Tactica came in. A brand new kingdom, new details on other characters, some brand new mechanics, including character swapping, and new information about an upcoming DLC that brings in two characters into the fray. There's definitely a lot to go through and all of it is quite exciting, so let's jump right in!
Yoshiki Kingdom - The Second Chapter Revealed
First off, we have the introduction of the second chapter in Persona 5 Tactica, which will take place in Yoshiki's Kingdom. Inspired by mid-1800s Japan, the Phantom Thieves will continue on the run as they become wanted criminals here after saving another person. Yuki, the woman who was saved, explains that this kingdom is subject to constant surveillance and if anyone shows resilience or dissent towards the ruler, Yoshiki, will be taken away.
Joker and the team, being the noble people they are, decide to free anyone who has been imprisoned by this regime and, while their initial plan works, it unfortunately doesn't avoid Yoshiki like they had hoped. Now they will need to face the full force of the kingdom against them as they try to liberate it from the tyrannical rule it's under.
A Set of Brand New Mechanics to Play With
Character Swapping
The first new mechanic that has been revealed is character swapping! During your turn, you can swap out any of your three active party members out whenever you want to. You can experiment as much as you want with positions and the characters you have with their own abilities and such, giving you a lot of chances for strategic choice to maximize your turns.
Strike Down Enemies
Next, if you are on the high ground, you will be able to knock down enemies. If you plan this well and knock an enemy down near an ally, you will have the chance to activate follow-up attacks that can provide extra turns and inflict critical damage.
Different Types of Enemies
We were also given a bit more info about other different types of enemies. The Musketeers are the standard enemies who specialize in ranged attacking, but we were also introduced into Grenadiers, who specialize in melee fighting and can retaliate when attacked, and Drummers, who can use buffing and healing to empower the other foes you will face.
Difficulty Settings Revealed
There are 5 difficulty levels that were revealed for Persona 5 Tactica that can be changed at any time during the game:
- Safety (Easiest)
- Easy
- Normal
- Hard
- Risky (Hardest)
Persona Fusions
The Velvet Room was also shown off a bit and we were introduced to Lavenza in her new blacksmith outfit. In the Velvet Room, you will be able to fuse Persona into stronger versions of themselves, which you can also do when in-battle.
The First Persona 5 Tactica DLC Detailed - Repaint Your Heart Challenge Pack
And finally, we have details about the first DLC that's going to be released for Persona 5 Tactica, the Repaint Your Heart Challenge Pack. In this DLC, we will be uncovering the truth behind some strange graffiti from a mysterious artist named Guernica.
Joker and the team will get roped into a new adventure after a strange voice asks for the Phantom Thieves help, which leads to a chance encounter with one of the two new characters appearing in this DLC, Goro Akechi. On top of Goro, we will also see Kasumi Yoshizawa join the game too. There isn't any other info on the DLC just yet, but it sounds like it will be a wonderful way to continue the Phantom Thieves' journey once the main story wraps up.
Persona 5 Tactica will be released on November 17th and can be pre-ordered and wishlisted now on Steam.
