Preservation is extremely important, which is why I love seeing games start appearing on GOG. While Steam is clearly a bigger platform, GOG differentiates itself by selling DRM-free versions of games. The games we buy on Steam are technically licenses, and these could be revoked at any time. With GOG, we have DRM-free copies, which means they are ours to keep forever. And today, two new games were added to their library, and both of them are great.

Trials of Mana

Two games from the fantastic Mana series from Square Enix have arrived. Both Legend of Mana and Trials of Mana have been added to the lineup of Square Enix titles now available and DRM-free. Both of these games are great, so I’m very excited to see them here. And I can confirm that both of them run very well on the Steam Deck.

You can follow our guide on how to get GOG games running and installed on your Steam Deck, if you haven’t got it set up yet.

Square Enix has been bringing over a good chunk of games over to GOG lately, so I’m not surprised seeing more of their titles appear. On top of that, they are having a sale on GOG for all of their titles there, including Legends of Mana and Trials of Mana.

While there are some games in the series that are missing, including the most recently released Visions of Mana, it’s still great to have more games on the platform. It’s never a bad thing to have options, and these games are great. Now, we can safely keep them forever as DRM-free copies.
