If you are looking a fantastic survival game to play on the Steam Deck, this will be an amazing one to watch out for! The upcoming 1.2 update for Obsidian's survival game, Grounded, has a lot of fixes and additions coming to it, but one of the biggest is official Steam Deck support!

Grounded 1.2

While the game can run currently, it does have its issues that need to be worked around. Thankfully, this upcoming update will fix multiple issues including:

  • The game now boots past the initial loading screen.
  • The Xbox log-in window properly displays.
  • Tuned the default graphics settings for Steam Deck to provide an enjoyable experience. Also includes some Steam Deck-specific optimizations.
  • Steam Deck virtual keyboard pops up when selecting any input text field in the game (entering a multiplayer game password, naming your trail marker / storage, pet, etc.)
  • Control prompts no longer flip flop between displaying gamepad and mouse/keyboard controls when using the touch pad or gyro.

On top of that, the update will feature a multitude of new content including a new boss, an item duplication machine, new custom game options, new items, a multitude of quality of life fixes and improvements, new achievements, photo mode additions, over 90 new buildings, and bug fixes galore! You can check out the full changelog on the official post on Obsidian's forum.

The 1.2 update is available now to test in the public test build of the game! To access it on Steam, go to Grounded's properties and to the Betas tab. There, you should be able to see the "Public Test Build" for the game. Once selected, it should update by itself and you will be able to test to your hearts content until it is released officially.
