Well, I’m not a huge fan of racing games, there are still some that I do enjoy playing. These are usually arcade racers like Mario Kart or Burnout, but I do find myself enjoying Forza Horizon. And ever since the sixth game in the series was announced to be taking place in Japan, I have been overly excited for it. I love the setting they chose, and I can’t wait to take the Horizon gameplay into Japan. However, I have been very curious if this would run on the Steam Deck, but it sounds like my curiosity will be satiated.
Over on Twitter/X, the official Forza Horizon account posted the PC spec sheet for Forza Horizon 6. Right at the top of the sheet, they list all the key features that are going to be part of the PC release. This includes the newest upscaling like FSR4, Ultrawide monitor support, robust, controller and wheel support, and my personal favorite, it confirms that the game will be playable on Steam Deck (and ROG Xbox Ally).

Looking at the minimum specifications on the sheet, I can see it being playable. The CPU and GPU requirements are within playable standards for the Deck, and it is aiming for the graphical preset on low, 1080p resolution, and 60 FPS. This gives us a good chunk of leverage, since the maximum resolution on the Deck is 800p, and we could bring down the framerate to 45 for a good balance of smooth gameplay and savings on power.
It sounds like Forza Horizon 6 is going to be optimized really well, especially if those specifications in the sheet are not influenced by any of the upscaling technologies. I don’t think it is, since the highest tier of the specs list, the resolution as being upscaled, while the others don’t. I do worry that frame generation might be involved, but it doesn’t list anything, so I’m hoping it’s not the case. Still, I am at least happy that the team acknowledges the Steam Deck and is making sure it’ll be playable on there.

Forza Horizon 6 can be pre-purchased for $69.99 ahead of its May 18th release.
