Ever since I can remember, I have been reading gaming websites for news and reviews. So, when I started SteamDeckHQ, it felt like a dream come true to actually be a part of it. Since that has happened, we have hit milestone after milestone, achieving things I never thought would be possible. And today, I can officially say we have achieved another one, and it’s a huge personal dream of mine: SteamDeckHQ has become a critic on Metacritic.

SteamDeckHQ on Metacritic

Specifically, this means that our reviews, the content portion, will be added to Metacritic’s lineup and showcased on their website, while also contributing to their overall score for the game. It’s an honor to be among other amazing publications there, and it feels like a dream come true seeing our work be showcased by the biggest aggregator around.

Operationally, there’s going to be little difference you’ll see in what we post. We will still be writing full reviews and Steam Deck optimization, which are sectioned out nicely. We will still be covering news and reviewing accessories and other handhelds. The only change is that we may cover even more games, but generally, our content won’t change. Our reviews will just be showing up on Metacritic and contributing to their score starting this year.

Still, this moment feels surreal. When I started the website almost 4 years ago, I was managing movie theaters and pharmacies, so seeing us become a critic on Metacritic is one of those moments that really makes me feel like I made the right choice going all in with SteamDeckHQ. And as an avid user and fan of Metacritic, seeing my reviews appear there is like a dream come true.

And I just want to thank all of our readers. You guys, your support, reading our work, interacting with us on social media, it has all helped us get to where we are today. Thank you all for your support and for reading our work.
