Of all the JRPG series I have played through on my Steam Deck, the Yakuza games have been some of the best. I loved playing through both Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2, as well as Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and the whole series is very playable on the go. And with Yakuza Kiwami 3 coming soon, I was curious if the game would follow the previous entries in this case. It seems I had nothing to worry about, as the game just got its Steam Deck Verified badge from Valve.

Earlier today, the game officially got the Verified badge. This notes that the default controller configuration works well, the controller icons are specific to the Steam Deck, the in-game text is legible, and the default graphical settings perform well on the Deck. Now, I do have reservations about how it will actually perform on the Deck, since the Verified badge is not a good indicator of whether a game will run well, but I do have high hopes.
The game's minimum spec requirements are the same as the new versions of Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2, and while it is a little heavy to play, it should be viable on the Deck. The CPU and RAM requirements are within the Deck's capabilities, and the GPU is towards the high side, but it should still be playable. The minimum requirements are going for 1080p resolution at 30 FPS, and since we are playing on the Steam Deck with a native resolution of 800p, which will most likely default the game to 720p, it shouldn't need as much power as the minimum states.

Still, I expect good things from Yakuza Kiwami 3. The previous games all play very well on the Deck, and this would be another perfect fit. The Yakuza games are full of content and great stories that find a balance between comedy and drama in such an exciting way. I can't wait to play it for myself and experience the story of Yakuza 3 all over again, along with the new Dark Ties content.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties can be pre-purchased for $59.99 ahead of its February 11th release.

I'm a bit concerned about that. The new version of Kiwami 2 didn't run well at all on the Steam Deck.
That's valid. I need to do more testing, but I still want to hold onto hope.
