Wuthering Waves Is Now Working And Playable On Steam Deck

There's something so appealing about playing games like Wuthering Waves on portable devices. After trying it on my iPhone, I could never see myself playing while sitting down at a desktop computer. I could definitely see myself playing on the Steam Deck, but sadly, games like this, including others like Genshin Impact, notoriously have anti-cheat that isn't compatible with Linux. However, unlike Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves was eventually going to be compatible with the Steam Deck, and it looks like that time has come!

Earlier today, Wuthering Waves got the Playable rating on the Steam Deck. It didn't get the green checkmark due to needing the touchscreen for the launcher, needing to manually bring up the virtual keyboard, and needing a community controller configuration. With the new badge, the game should be perfectly playable without needing any outside intervention, and for the most part, it is!

The game starts up and plays without needing any extra commands or help, and while I did need to use the touch screen to get past the launcher, it otherwise works perfectly fine. Later elements and bigger fights of the game may be too much for the Deck to handle at the Quality preset, but the Balanced preset seems to work at 30 FPS in most areas so far. Granted, I have only tested the opening sections, but I didn't see as many drops below 30 FPS on the Balanced preset.

All of this is with a higher battery drain as well, so we may need to drop the settings even further if we are going to save on battery life even more. Still, even with this, I would consider the game playable on the Steam Deck, regardless.
