During the last Steam Next Fest, I got to play so many incredible games. However, in my recommendations, Silver Pines was one of the few that stood out. It takes the Resident Evil horror style and puts it into a 2D setting with Metroidvania mechanics. It looks incredible, and I’m so excited for it. And it looks like it’s going to be one. We can enjoy the full game on the Steam Deck.

A few days ago, the game officially got the Verified badge. This means Valve has not noted that the game’s default controller configuration and graphics configuration both work well; it shows the correct controller icons, and the in-game text is legible. It also notes that the game doesn’t default to external controllers and may require manually switching.

I’m not too surprised by the rating, considering the demo was running at 60 FPS throughout the majority of the experience with a 15W battery drain. I was already quite impressed with how it was running, and based on its recommended requirements, there shouldn’t be much of an issue.

Generally, Steam’s Verified system hasn’t been the most accurate, with it consistently verifying games as “great experiences” for the Deck without them actually being good. However, I can see this one being accurate, considering how it was performing in the demo. Still, I can’t wait to play the full game for myself as we near the release.
