The holidays are almost here, and The Outlast Trials is gearing up to celebrate its first Christmas in early access. So, to ring in the holiday cheer, a new update was released that not only adds in a new limited event, but some fantastic goodies for Steam Deck LCD and OLED users that we can all celebrate.

Starting with the improvements relating to the Steam Deck, expanded controller support was added to the game. This includes vibration support, analog peeking with the Left Trigger, and a new Ping action. There were also three new layouts created: MODERN, ADVANCED, and TACTICAL, which you can choose from. Then, to sweeten the pot even further, developer Red Barrels has added HDR support to the game. For those of us with a Steam Deck OLED, this is an extremely welcome change that we will be able to utilize.
Aside from that, we have the new limited event: Winter Kills. The event comes adorned with new decorations and variators to spice up your trials. By completing them, you can earn tokens to unlock over 15 exclusive cosmetics and 2 cell decoration bundles using these. There is a new storyline as well, which you can complete by finding all the evidence documents scattered. The event begins today and will last until January 9th at 7 AM PT.

There was also some rig balancing and tweaking, along with some bug fixes and AI improvements, but that is the bulk of the update! You can view the full changelog over on their Steam Community Post.
The Outlast Trials is on sale for $22.49 on Steam now and is rated Verified for the Steam Deck.
