LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has been one of the games this year. I’ve been most excited for. I love the LEGO games, and the new game looks like a wonderful combination of the LEGO style mixed with the combat and stealth from the Arkham series. While I haven’t been playing it, I do plan on writing up some impressions as soon as it unlocks from my purchased copy. But until then, I have been curious to see how it would play on the Steam Deck, and it sounds like it might be deserving of that Verified badge.

In a review video for the game by MrMattyPlays, he mentions relatively early on that the game is quite playable on the Steam Deck. He tried it on the lowest settings with FSR upscaling at balanced and Frame Gen off, and found that the game sticks to 30-60 FPS depending on the area you are in. He mentions that in contained areas, similar to the usual LEGO story missions, it will hit 60 FPS. However, in the open world, it will stutter around a bit more. He doesn’t mention or show what the average framerate is or what the battery life will be, but he does say that you could cap at 30 FPS or bring down the FSR upscaling to improve the framerate.
Of course, this doesn’t have some of the in-depth testing that I would prefer to do myself, so I’m not deterred from actually trying it myself. However, it is nice to see that the game is playable on the Steam Deck. The spec sheet that was released had me very worried, but it looks like it was either rushed or just completely wrong. There were already some questionable entries, like asking for frame generation to hit 30 FPS, but it’s nice to see someone who has played the game and can confirm that it’s just wrong.

Ultimately, I can’t wait to actually try the game for myself. I’m super excited to dive back into the LEGO world and be able to play it on the go.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight can be purchased for $69.99 on Steam. It’s rated Steam Deck Verified.
