I love metroidvanias on the Steam Deck, they are some of my favorite games to play, and it looks like there's a new one I will be adding to my library soon! Somber Echoes has a gorgeous, atmospheric sci-fi aesthetic that looks like it would shine on the OLED screen, and the user reviews seem to emphasize some solid combat and great ways to explore the world. And it sounds like it will be a great option to play on the Steam Deck, especially since there are improvements coming in.

Somber Echoes was released last week, and with its first big patch, the Steam Deck is getting some improvements. The changelog notes improvements on the Steam Deck, though the only specific it gives is tutorial video support. There are most likely more improvements due to these being two separate entries, but the rest of the changes should also help playability on the Steam Deck.

We have improved cutscene stability and bug fixes against various enemies, and the hover skill has been updated and activated by holding the jump button while jumping this time. Unsupported languages will also now default to English and a certain statue that wouldn't save as found will now correctly being found.

You can check out the full changelog for the update via their Steam Community Post.
