SteamOS

There were two small SteamOS beta updates over the past few days that are aimed at fixing issues that have come up from the new Screen Reader accessibility feature. This include slider announcements being interruptable, the screen reader stopping after the Deck reboots, and a problem where screen reader announcements were interruptable.

You can download the update yourself in the System Settings on the Steam Deck. Make sure your update channel is set to Beta or Preview.

SteamOS 3.7.11 Beta Update Changelog:

Screen Reader

  • Fixed slider announcements not being interruptible
  • Fixed a case where the screen reader would not work after a reboot

SteamOS 3.7.12 Beta Update Changelog:

Screen Reader

  • Fixed an issue with screen reader announcements for screen reader settings not being interruptible
