I still remember the first time I played Satisfactory and how much I loved it. I am a sucker for automation in survival games, and I love being able to generate loads of materials without needing to lift a finger, and with that being the big focus of Satisfactory, I quickly fell for it. On top of that, it runs pretty well on the Steam Deck, though there are some difficulties that can make it feel a little unplayable at times. However, one of the biggest nuisances will be fixed soon, and I can't wait.

Satisfactory

In a video posted by developer Coffee Stain Studios on YouTube, the team goes over what the next update will look like. Towards the end of the video, it was announced that the game will officially be getting controller support, with them holding up a PS5 and Xbox controller. This will be huge for people wanting to play on a Steam Deck, and it will make navigating through menus and the UI, as well as general control over your character and placing buildings, become significantly easier. It should also help the game get closer to a Verified badge, making it so we don't need a community controller configuration and showing the correct controller icons.

The rest of the update will be massive. There will be a new photo mode that also allow you to take small videos within the game, Hypertubes can now branch so you can choose multiple pathways to travel quickly across your world, there are now Vertical splitters and mergers for better organization when creating a more vertical factory, and there are Priority mergers so you can choose which type of items get the priority to go through first.

We will also have new displays to show how many items are going through the conveyor belt per minute. You can now utilize a curved build mode to make conveyor belts easier, and straight pipes are being added in. There will also be new Personnel Elevators where you can add as many floors as you want and customize the floor names, icons, and color. And finally, we have Railway buffer stops to make sure we don't go off the end of a train track by accident, new architectural pieces for buildings, and so much more.

They also announced that there's no release date for 1.1 yet, but the game will be hitting the Experimental branch on Steam on April 1st. I truly hope it isn't an April Fools joke, but they seem very serious about it, so I will take their word for it! This will ultimately make Satisfactory way more playable on the Steam Deck, so I can't wait to try it out for myself.
