DOOM: The Dark Ages Proton GE 10-4

A new Proton GE update was released, which includes some nice new features that I am quite happy with. There's an implementation to enable FSR 4 auto-upgrades for games that support the newest version of the upscaler, which you can do by using the launch option: FSR4_UPGRADE=1 %command%. I did test this in multiple games, though it didn't work in the titles I tried. However, the AI upscaling features of FSR 4 are exclusive to AMD's RDNA 4 GPUs, which the Steam Deck doesn't have, so we aren't missing much.

There's also a fix for the broken cursor issue with DOOM: The Dark Ages in winewayland, a fix for Colin McRaie: DiRT, and imported changes from the main Proton branch that came from Valve. There were also some fixes removed for Once Human and other Daedalic games since they are no longer needed.

For those who don't know about Proton GE, how to get it on the Steam Deck, or how to update, check out our Proton GE guide! We go over all of this and explain why having GE is important.
