The Last of Us Part 2 Proton Experimental

There was a new Proton Experimental update yesterday that includes some nice fixes and new playable games. City Car Driving and Korea. IL-2 Series are now both Playable, while Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will now detect game controllers again. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and The Last of Us Part 2 get some fixes for fullscreen mode, while The Unfinished Swan will no longer lock up after opening the book.

The new update should automatically download if you already have the experimental layer. If not, just search for Proton Experimental in the Steam store on your Steam Deck and download.

Proton Experimental 8/18/26 Update Changelog:

  • Now playable: City Car Driving, Korea. IL-2 Series, The Heroic Legend of America: Second Revolutionary War.
  • Fixed Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and The Last of Us Part II showing Gnome's top bar in fullscreen mode.
  • Fixed The Unfinished Swan locking up after opening the book.
  • Fixed Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora not detecting game controllers.
  • Fixed middle mouse button not being able to move camera in Company of Heroes 3.
  • Fixed some input issues occurring after changing focus between the game and the launcher in Arma 3 on gamescope.
  • Fixed the main menu of The I of the Dragon being non-interactable with the mouse cursor.
  • Fixed Experimental regressions:
    • Elisa: The Innkeeper - Prequel is playable again.
  • Fixed Proton 11 regression:
    • CEG-using games should no longer take extra time to start.
    • Command & Conquer: Generals should no longer have graphical glitches in the menu.
