New Proton Experimental Update Fixes Far Cry 5 And The Quarry On Steam Deck

A new Proton Experimental update was released yesterday with some nice updates for games on the Steam Deck. Both The Quarry and Far Cry 5's HDR have been fixed on OLED Steam Decks, while Sony controllers were fixed in God of War: Ragnarok. For Honor was also fixed and will launch on other Linux devices, while Summoner Wars: RUSH and Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality should now be working with Proton.

The new Proton Experimental update should automatically download if you already have the experimental layer. If not, just search for Proton Experimental in the Steam store on your Steam Deck and download.

Proton Experimental 10/7/25 Update Changelog:

• Now playable: Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality, Changeling VR, Summoners War: RUSH.
• Fixed Sony controllers not working in God of War: Ragnarok on Steam Deck in handheld mode.
• Fixed The Quarry not being playable on OLED Steam Decks.
• Fixed Far Cry 5 showing old GPU drivers warning with AMD gpus.
• Fixed HDR in Far Cry 5 on OLED Steam Decks.
• Fixed For Honor not starting on non-Steam Decks.
