Earlier today, Playstation dropped the news that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is now coming to PC, which I genuinely didn't expect. With Nixxes Software at the helm again, Insomniac Games will be bringing the follow up to Marvel's Spider-Man to all of us, and with Nixxes help, it will most likely be playable on the Steam Deck in some way. But, this will definitely have some caveats that the previous game didn't have.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a PS5-only game that utilizes the new technology and extra power that it sports. Unfortunately, the Steam Deck is not as powerful as a PS5, so it may be a bit harder to run than most of the games before it. Looking at Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon Forbidden West, both games that were ported by Nixxes, there is some hope. Ratchet and Clank is a PS5 exclusive and runs decently, while Forbidden West is just a tougher game to run in general with higher requirements, but it still can be played. Ratchet and Clank is also developed by Insomniac, so this may be a better indicator of what performance may be like, but Spider-Man 2 is also a bigger game in general.
With Nixxes porting, this also means we will most likely be getting the newest upscaling technology as well! As they have done with their ports, they will most likely include DLSS, FSR 3.1, and XeSS 1.3 as options in the game, and they're fantastic at implementing them. I have complete confidence in Nixxes as a studio. The store page doesn't mention the Steam Deck or any PC-specific features yet, but this is Nixxes and they have proven themselves over and over.
However, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 also lists that it will require a PlayStation Network (PSN) account. It mentions this both on the right-hand side of the store page and at the bottom of the description in a very odd way. It is listed as a side note whenever the game's full title is mentioned in the description, which feels a bit weird since these side notes are usually regarding specific use cases, like in Ghost of Tsushima's description where they give a side note to Ultrawide resolution support needing a compatible PC, upscaling needing a compatible GPU, or haptic feedback for DualSense controllers needing a wired connection.

Unfortunately, this also means that you may be locked out of countries that can't make PSN accounts. We have seen this happen with their more recent games, like Ghost of Tsushima and God of War Ragnarok, where over 170 countries can't purchase the game because PlayStation doesn't support making accounts there. SteamDB doesn't show if Spider-Man 2 will be one of those games, but it's very possible and a safe assumption that it will be the same.
I am also a bit surprised that Spider-Man 2 is even coming to PC. I was under the impression that PlayStation wanted to drive PC players to PS5, and this is one of the exclusives that I think would be able to move a lot of people from PC to PS5, considering the game and Spider-Man series is just awesome. Regardless, I am happy to see it, and I can't wait to try it out on the Steam Deck!

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 can be wishlisted ahead of its January 30th release on Steam. Yep, its not available for me in Moldova, just like Tsushima and Ragnarok 🙁 We have only one option left to get the game, and it's from the green store (they have eye patches and Rum bottles as merch there, strange choice for gaming venue)
While we don't advocate for something like that in any way whatsoever, it is ridiculous that this limitation keeps people from over 170 countries from being able to purchase and enjoy the game.
Lol, who cares if you guys "don't advocate" pirating. Maybe if game companies would stop being so money hungry, it'd never be required to pirate games. If you guys were in a country that had these issues, you'd be doing the same damn thing. Pirating games. So don't be going out here making yourselves look like the moral police. XD
Pirating is wrong, no matter the excuse you use. It's not something you or any general consumer created, so what gives you the right or moral standing to steal from developers who worked extremely hard to make the product you are stealing from? In your opinion if the product wasn't good or worth the retail price, why even bother going the extra mile to steal? It's completely immoral and hypocritical.
