It’s crazy to think about how significant Half Life 2 is and how it permeates into conversations over 20 years after its release. On top of that, they have some of the best mods that I have ever seen, with one of my favorites being Garry’s Mod. However, there’s another awesome mod called Synergy, which allows you to play Half Life 2 and other mods in Co-Op. It’s an awesome option, and after yesterday’s update, we officially have Steam Deck support!

In the latest update for the game, there are two specific parts of it that deal directly with the Steam Deck. The first is the actual initial native support added for the device, which should make playing on the Deck much cleaner. They also mention that the UI isn’t the greatest, and while they did fix some of the HUD issues that the latest Half Life 2 20th Anniversary update added, it’s still not the best. But it is natively supported now, which is great even with the issues it may have!

However, another awesome big reason this update was pushed out is to support the 20th Anniversary update for Half Life 2. This patch also includes many other improvements, including performance optimizations, Linux Dedicated Server support, workshop support for servers, Steam Rich Presence integration, cloud support for saves and settings, and even an increase in the maximum player count from 10 to 32!

The team also noted that they are working on a big feature in the next update to allow friends to join lobbies directly through Steam, bypassing the need to port forward your server. They plan to try getting it out in the near future, but didn’t offer any other specific dates.

Synergy can be added to your library and downloaded from Steam.
