A new release date for Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion, the most recent entry in the adored Japanese horror series, has been revealed by XSEED Games for 2025. The game was originally scheduled for an earlier release date, but it has been postponed to enhance overall quality and ensure that it will live up to fan expectations.

Corpse Party II promises to be a terrifying new horror experience when it eventually launches on PC through Steam.

Players follow three high school pals, Haruka Nanami, Nemu Takanashi, and Maria Hitsugi, on a terrifying journey inside the Amare Est Vivere Hospital in Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion. When they unintentionally set off an old curse, what begins as a light-hearted test of a local urban legend swiftly devolves into a nightmare. The three must discover the hospital's sinister secrets and lift the curse before it's too late, all while the evil spirit of Ayame Kirishima is pursuing them.

With a fully 3D-rendered world and the ability to explore in both first-person and third-person, the game offers an original take on the Corpse Party formula. The visual novel-style storytelling is paired with eerie binaural audio and unsettling Japanese voiceovers, immersing players in an atmosphere of constant dread. This installment appears to be full of the same terrifying twists and turns that fans enjoy, with six main chapters, extra side stories, and a ton of gory Wrong Ends just waiting to be discovered.

Darkness Distortion is positioned as an excellent starting point for horror fans who are unfamiliar with the series. And for long-time fans, the game promises plenty of the classic terror that made Corpse Party a cult hit.
