The Anbernic RG DS, a dual-screen handheld which was revealed last week, has started to stretch its marketing legs. To build anticipation, the company has just released a video showcasing the kind of performance we can expect from the device when emulating the NDS and 3DS consoles.
Interestingly, the video leads with a couple of 3DS titles, Rune Factory 4 and Shovel Knight. These are more "easy-to-run" 3DS titles, but it's still good to know that the RG DS is capable of some 3DS emulation, just don't expect it to run Mario Kart 7 or more intensive 3D titles. The top display does get squished a little, thanks to the slightly wider aspect ratio of the 3DS.
After that, we get the NDS gameplay we expected, some Nintendogs, Kirby, Pokémon; it all works as you might expect, perhaps even better than you might have expected, thanks to a couple of additions from Anbernic.

Those additions are the inclusion of a "Touch Pen", which allows for more precision when using the touch screen, much like the NDS Stylus, and the RG DS's Microphone, which was confirmed to be working with NDS emulation in the video. The touch pen is a nice bonus here, as many complaints with DS emulation on modern touchscreens are that using your fingers isn't always the best when some DS games require pinpoint accuracy on the touchscreen. I'm just hoping the pen is included with the RG DS's sub-$100 price tag.
