The Steam Summer Sale is filled with so many incredible deals, and we keep finding more that we want to talk about. Here, I want to specifically focus on first-person shooters and go over some great deals and personal recommendations I think are worth adding to your Steam Deck library. These games have all been tested and guaranteed to work on the Deck and offer a wonderful portable experience that elevates their gameplay.

Metro Saga Bundle - $5.04 (92% Off)

Metro Exodus Best First-Person Shooters for Steam Deck

In every recommendation article I write, I always include the Metro Saga Bundle. Not only are these amazing story-driven shooters, but they are fantastic to play on the Steam Deck and almost always go on a huge sale. The game will regularly hold above 60 FPS, though in some larger fights, it might drop a little bit below. Sticking to a 40 or 45 FPS lock is perfect, and with the default settings looking as good as they do, it makes this an incredible portable experience.

This bundle includes Metro 2033 Redux, Metro Last Light Redux, and Metro Exodus with its expansion pass.

Killing Floor 2 - $2.99 (90% Off)

KillingFloor2SteamDeck

The game defaults to relatively high settings, and despite that, the game runs extremely well. You can hit 60 FPS early on, and it feels great, but it will start to drop as a ton of enemies come on screen and if you’re playing with multiple people, which causes more enemies to appear. Still, even if you have to set the frame rate down a little, it’s an incredible time on the Deck. And with the multitude of content, maps, and progression that are already in the game, it’s hard not to find a lot of value in it.

Echo Point Nova - $12.49 (50% Off)

EchoPointNovaSteamDeck

This one still blows me away by how well it performs on such a large scale. You’re going around, hopping from island to island on your hoverboard and killing enemies in extremely fast-paced combat. And if you start the game with DX11, it will stick above 60 FPS almost the entire time, with only a few drops here and there when jumping and loading into a different island. It did not drop with combat in the slightest. And with co-op play, it’s by far one of the best shooters to play on the Deck.

Mullet Madjack - $12.99 (35% Off)

MulletMadJack60 11

This is, by far, one of my favorite shooters to play on the Steam Deck. You go through different levels, constantly killing enemies as quickly as possible to stay alive and keep your 10-second counter from hitting 0. On top of that, you’ll get new upgrades with each floor, and there’s even an endless mode to test your mettle. It’s best played with a 45 FPS lock, since it can drop in some areas with lots of enemies or effects. Still, it’s extremely fun to play, and I highly recommend it.

DOOM (2016) - $3.99 (80% Off)

DreadTemplarSteamDeck

I know this is the oldest of the new DOOM games, but it’s also the one that performs the best with the least amount of compromises. This is the pinnacle boomer shooter with gorgeous, bloody visuals, back-to-back action, a great amount of variety, and its weapon selection. On top of that, just changing the renderer to Vulkan and dropping the resolution scale to 85% brings the game to 60 FPS while keeping everything looking pristine.

AMID EVIL - $6.99 (65% Off)

AMIDEVILSteamDeck

This is another fantastic boomer shooter that absolutely deserves attention. It leans more heavily on the retro aesthetic, but takes a deeper fantasy turn than DOOM. It runs at a silky smooth 60 FPS and feels amazing to play on the Deck. This is why I can’t recommend it enough if you’re a fan of DOOM.

Dread Templar - $3.99 (80% Off)

DreadTemplarSteamDeck2

This is another boomer shooter, but it doesn’t drain the battery as much as the others. However, it still has the retro aesthetic of AMID EVIL and the fast-paced gameplay that is needed for this genre. If it’s right at home on the Steam Deck, and will be a worthy addition to the portable library.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger - $1.49 (90% Off)

CallofJuarezGunslingerSteamDeck

This is a fantastic shooter where you are put in your Steam Deck library. It’s a relatively older game, originally released in 2013, but it’s beautiful with great gun play and an interesting story, and it runs flawlessly on the Steam Deck, easily hitting 90 FPS with low battery drain. It might not be a newer game, but it’s definitely worth your time.

Payday 2 - $2.99 (70% Off)

Payday2SteamDeck

I know Payday 3 is out, but there’s something that just fits Payday 2 so perfectly and hasn’t been matched. There are tons of multiplayer content, as well as a solid progression system, and tons of different guns to utilize. And it runs extremely well on the Steam Deck, easily hitting 60 FPS at the highest settings. It might be a little older, but there’s no denying how great it is to grind and heist on the go.

SPRAWL - $3.74 (75% Off)

SPRAWL5

This is a fantastic fast-paced shooter that feels right at home on the Steam Deck. There are a couple of changes I would make to make sure it is running at 60 FPS as stably as possible, but apart from that, it will fit in and run perfectly. This is a great shooter to enjoy on the Steam Deck.

The Darkness 2 - Honorable Mention - $2.99 (90% Off)

TheDarkness2SteamDeck

This was actually the game I was most excited to add to the list, but unfortunately, there were just some nuisances that stopped it from making it. The follow-up to The Darkness is a little on the other side and will generally look and run wonderfully, but there are a lot of extra stutters and bottlenecks when a lot of effects are happening on the screen. This could be my game specifically having a weird CPU cap, since one of our other writers tested and didn't have this issue, but I had it on two different devices.
