I reviewed Wheel World back at its launch in July, and I quite enjoyed it. One of the downsides to the game, however, was its performance on the Steam Deck, with frequent dips below 30 FPS in busy city races, sometimes even going as low as 20 FPS at points. But Post Launch Patch #3 for the game specifically mentions improving FPS dips, so how much does the Steam Deck benefit?

Put simply, this update adds a new native Linux build for Steam Deck to use, and it almost entirely removes the dips in performance I saw using our optimized settings. By and large, the game manages to be a pretty stable 30 FPS experience now, just dropping a single frame here and there in intense city racing, a far cry compared to before, when we often saw dips into the mid-20s.

The update wasn't just about performance improvements, though, as Wheel World now has a photo mode, allowing you to take pictures of your favorite spots in this uniquely styled game. Plus, a few bug fixes here and there. You can read the full community post yourself to see all that's changed.

Wheel World is available now on Steam for $19.99
