In the spirit of PC gaming, we have a multitude of choices for how we want to play our games. This includes the Steam Deck, and that means we can play games outside of Steam. There are a few ways to do this, but one of the newer ones is Unifideck. This is a Decky Loader plugin where we can sync our Epic, GOG, and Amazon Prime libraries and play the games directly in Steam's Game Mode. Recently, the plugin got an update that adds some nice features, including the ability to actually connect to GOG Galaxy and play some games online.

Unifideck

The plugin has been getting a good chunk of updates since its release, and the most recent ones have me excited. We now have some extra metadata that shows details like the game's synopsis, tags, developer, Metacritic score, and more. This appears nicely towards the top of the game details page, and I like how nicely it blends in without standing out too much.

We also have GOG Galaxy online support for GOG games. This will allow some games that need online interactivity from GOG, like Gwent, to be playable online with ease. The update also includes a fix to make sure artwork downloaded is accurate, icons will also now be downloaded along with artwork, the install buttons for the games have been moved to the metadata section, and there have been a bunch of UI refinements.

You can download the newest version of Unifideck from their GitHub release page, and you will have to manually move it to your plugin folder in desktop mode. You can see how from our previous Unifideck article.
