City Defense Z is an interesting little roguelike that blends tower defense with deckbuilding, and while it has had a mixed launch, I do like the look of this one. The developers have outlined a gigantic roadmap that looks to overhaul vast parts of the game since launch over the next month, and optimization for the Steam Deck is on their list!

This roadmap will be in two main sections that will appear over the following month. The first part will focus on content and gameplay enhancements, while the second patch will be focused on optimization. The Steam Deck optimizations are not in any detail, only the developers’ hope that they will achieve the Verified badge and will optimize according to Valve's guidelines. Other improvements planned include a complete replacement of all NPC character art, a dynamic economy redesign, a scalable UI, mass unit selection, an expanded expedition system for more side content, and key rebinds, but the link to the roadmap shows off much more.
All of these are part of the developer's 1-month challenge, so hopefully we will see all of these updates within the next month.

These updates should greatly improve the general experience of City Defense Z, and Steam Deck performance will be interesting once that is in.
City Defense Z is available on Steam, and its 20% launch discount will end tomorrow.
