Ever since I can remember, Slay the Spire has always been one of the top-played games on the Steam Deck, and it makes sense why. The deckbuilding roguelike is a treat, going through runs and building out your deck of cards to attack, defend, and use skills to overcome the challenges that arise. It helped define the deckbuilding roguelike genre, and soon, the sequel will be upon us. Slay the Spire 2 will release into early access soon, coming with co-op, new characters, and thankfully, it will be playable on the Steam Deck at launch.

Over on Reddit two days ago, the developer of Slay the Spire 2, Mega Crit, hosted an AMA on r/games to discuss the upcoming game. During the AMA, user enragedstump asked if they are planning on having Steam Deck support during early access. In response, Jake, the lead programmer, and Ed, an engineer, responded, mentioning that they play a lot on the Steam Deck. They also say that they may not get the Verified badge in time for release, but it will be playable.
While I didn't have much doubt that the new game would run well on the Deck, it's still great to see confirmation that it is playable. It sounds like it will be good to go when it launches into early access, and if they don't have the Verified badge on release, they will as soon as they can.

Slay the Spire 2 can be wishlisted on Steam ahead of its March 5th release date.
