It hasn't been long since ARMSX2 has hit the Android scene, bringing with it an open-source approach to PS2 emulation and some interesting ideas. It has been great seeing the responses since it released, and I am really looking forward to its development. Today, a new update was released, and it may be one of the biggest updates to a PS2 emulator on Android that I have seen.

ARMSX2

With update 1.0.6 that has just released, we officially have online multiplayer support. This is pretty wild to see, as it seems to be the first Android emulator to support online multiplayer. This is nuts to see, and could lead to some pretty amazing possibilities to play PS2 games online with other people. It does take a little bit of knowledge to find the correct DNS and settings for specific games, but the fact is that it remains possible to do, and that's quite amazing.

One of the developers of ARMSX2, IAmLupo, posted a video with a guide on how to get online working with Battlefield 2: Modern Combat:

On top of that, we also have support for custom drivers, which can help improve either visuals or performance on specific GPUs. There's a new custom driver manager, which is always a great option to have to configure the best settings for our games.

Outside of the app, it is also now possible to submit compatibility reports about games using the ARMSX2 emulator. For a newer emulator like this, compatibility reports can be a make or break for seeing which games are working and giving info to the devs if specific fixes need to be made.

You can download the newest version (1.0.6) of the emulator from their GitHub, Website, or wait until the Google Play Store has approved the newest version and update that way.
