Pokémon Presents February 2025

And here we have it: Pokémon Day 2025. It's hard to believe it's been a staggering 29 years of Pokémon, with the series being an integral and instrumental part of my life. Receiving Pokémon Yellow way back when, alongside an incorrectly spelt Gameboy Color, set me on a path that, quite frankly, put me where I am today: writing for you. Regardless, as has been the tradition for quite some time, a Pokémon Presents stream accompanied such a momentous day, and it certainly did not disappoint...bar an inconspicuous lack of anything tenth generation of everyone's favourite money-printing critters. Will that be saved for the 30th Anniversary? We'll find out next year!

So, in case you missed the presentation earlier, here is a rundown of everything that was shown and announced:

Pokémon Concierge

Pokémon Concierge is returning to our screens, exclusively via Netflix, starting September 2025! For anyone who hasn't relaxed with this incredible stop-motion animated show and doesn't have a Netflix subscription (and with the ever-growing subscription fees, who can blame you), episodes 1-4 are being made available on the official Pokémon Channel website. They will only be available until Sunday, March 9th, so be quick if you want to see what the excitement is about!

Pokémon Go

The behemoth of a phenomenon that is Pokémon Go continues to dominate, with the Pokémon Go Tour: Unova launching across the globe from Saturday, March 1st, to Sunday, March 2nd. Whilst the event is free for all players, the usual optional Tour Pass Deluxe purchase brings additional rewards, such as a Victini encounter.

Black Kyurem and White Kyurem encounters round out some of the other highlights of this imminent weekend extravaganza, with both being available in Raid Battles and "elsewhere", whatever that may mean. Lastly, Shiny Aria Forme Meloetta will be available by completing Masterwork Research. A promo code distribution was also made available - GOTOURUNOVA - for use on the web store, which, once redeemed, gives you a single encounter of your choice from a pre-ordained selection.

Pokémon Masters EX

It's hard to believe that Pokémon Masters EX has been going for 5.5 years, and, ever want to celebrate half-year milestones, two new Sync Pairs are being made available in the coming days. May (Champion) & Shiny Primal Kyogre will be available from Friday, February 28th to Wednesday, April 9th, and Brendon (Champion) & Shiny Primal Groudon will be available from a couple of days later, Sunday, March 2nd through Wednesday, April 9th.

You can also receive 3000 gems for free by logging into the game from now through to Thursday, March 27th, assuming you have completed Chapter 1 of the main story.

Pokémon Cafe ReMix

I've never tried Pokémon Cafe ReMix, as it has always evaded me for some reason, but my partner wholeheartedly assures me it's great. And with the support it continues to receive, such as the new Apple-based menu and eventual rewards of either Flapple or Appletun to join your staff, it's easy to see why. This event lasts from Friday, February 28th, through Friday, March 14th.

Similarly, starting Friday, February 28th, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly will gradually become available in special outfit packs. Each Pokémon's event will last two weeks consecutively. If waiting a few days for such an event is too hard to ask, Pikachu in a Sweets outfit is available now, unlockable simply by logging in. Eevee in a Sweets outfit is also available once you have logged in for three days, with this particular event running from today through to Friday, March 14th.

Pokémon Sleep

No solid announcements were made regarding Pokemon Sleep outside of a beautiful teaser featuring a Cresselia vs. Darkrai event, with more details coming in March. A limited-time distribution of 10 Poke Biscuits and 1000 Diamonds is available, however, lasting until Wednesday, April 30th.

Pokémon Unite

Suicune! One of my favourite designs is coming to Pokémon Unite on Saturday, March 1st. Also, Alolan Raichu was announced to be released sometime in April, and Alcremie is due to land later in 2025. Alongside the roster additions was the news that Remoat Stadium is returning to ranked matches for a limited time (Thursday, March 27th to Wednesday, March 12th) alongside a new type of battle called First to 500.

A new feature called Aeos Technology "allows you to gain special effects" when a certain number of points is scored. An updated map with updated Pokémon placements rounds out this mode. The ultimate objective is as it says on the tin - the first to 500 points scored wins.

A Platinum Suicune Boost Emblem is available via a promo code - POKEDAY25 - and can be used anytime from now until Monday, March 31st.

Pokémon TCG Pocket

A new, Arceus-focused "Triumphant Light" booster pack will be available from Friday, February 28th! Garchomp EX, supporters Adaman and Irida, and Leafeon EX and Glaceon EX were a few cards shown off before the beautiful Arceus EX feature card. Considering that there's already plenty to collect (I'm at near-3000 cards gathered myself), I'm looking forward to trading my way through to completion yet again.

Should anyone still find themselves collecting the original Genetic Apex packs, a limited-time event guarantees special booster packs to include at least one card of 4 diamonds or higher, and that runs through from now to Wednesday, April 30th. Lastly, tacked on to the end of the announcements was the news that Ranked Matches are making their way to Pokémon TCG Pocket at the end of March - no concrete date just yet.

Pokémon TCG

In the realm of physical cards, the Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolutions Series was announced, with Mega Lucario and Mega Gardevoir being shown off. No other news was given regarding release dates, but these Mega Evolution cards seem to be significantly different from those shown in the XY and Sun and Moon series. Keep an eye out for more information!

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

For Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, new Rotom phone cases are available via Mystery Gift. Scarlet players can use the code SBOOKCOVER to receive theirs, whilst Violet players can similarly use VBOOKCOVER for theirs. Alongside this, Mass Outbreaks are available from Friday, February 28th through to Thursday, March 20th, featuring Red-,Green-, and Blue-Coloured Pokémon, with shiny 'mon's having a higher chance to appear.

On the Tera Raid front, Might Meowscarada is available for two weeks starting Friday, February 28th, Mighty Skeledirge from Friday, March 7th, and Mighty Quaquavel from Friday, March 14th. More raids are planned for the future, with some featured Pokémon shown, such as Tyranitar, Garchomp, and Goodra.

Pokémon Champions

If you saw this coming, you're either a liar or have an uncle who works for Nintendo. Pokémon Champions, a new game developed by The Pokémon Works, with GameFreak planning the project, is a title set to release on the "Nintendo Switch family of systems" (which absolutely means Switch 2) and iOS/Android devices and focuses on the battles of the core games.

Champions will also connect with Pokémon Home, meaning you can transfer your favourite teams from the games of yesteryear and continue the fight. Whilst both Mega Evolutions and Terastal Forms were shown in the video below, it's not a safe bet to assume that all Pokémon can be transferred, considering it hasn't been that way for quite some time. Still, it's lovely to see Mega Evolutions - arguably the best "special" addition of those in the last decade-plus - getting some much-needed love.

Latin American Spanish Inclusion

Pokémon games from this point on, including the aforementioned Pokémon Champions, will have support for Latin American Spanish at launch. Future expansions of Pokémon TCG will also have such support, including...

Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Finally, some Legends: Z-A gameplay footage! Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile are the lucky three starting Pokémon this time; as expected from the original teasers, this takes place in Lumiose City in the Kalos region. Lumiose City is undergoing a "high-tech urban redevelopment plan" and, as such, will naturally have a very different vibe from Legends: Arceus, a game set at the beginning of the Sinnoh region's storied history.

Either Urbain or Taunie will be your friend and ally, depending on the appearance you choose for yourself at the beginning of the game, and from there, it almost appears to be more closely aligned to a mainline title, at least in terms of the cast of characters you will meet, and purported progression in terms of numbered Wild Zones.

These Wild Zones are areas set up within the city that allow wild Pokémon to roam free, and from here, it's Legends as usual. Catching is a more casual affair, with battles not being mandatory, and was arguably one of my favourite parts of Legends: Arecus. However, battling does get an upgrade with different attack ranges and areas of effect coming into play, meaning some thought and strategy will need to be utilised from battle to battle.

Furthering the love given to Mega Evolutions throughout Pokémon Presents 2025 was the news that, yes, Mega Evolutions will also be coming back to Legends: Z-A. They look as incredible as either, and whilst it means the starting Pokémon won't get to partake in such an addition, having no Mega Evolution between them, there will no doubt be plenty of 'mons to choose from that can. Absol, Charizard, and Kanghaskan are but a few shown off that will be able to resonate with the trainer's Key Stone.

Pokemon: Legends Z-A is due to release in Late 2025.
