Death Stranding 2 Will Have A Handheld Graphics Preset On PC

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was announced not too long ago to be coming to PC, and I couldn't be more excited. I am a huge fan of Hideo Kojima's work, and while it took me some time to get into, I ended up loving Death Stranding. Now, with the sequel coming to PC, developed with Nixxes Software, there has been lots of speculation as to how this could run on the Steam Deck, and it looks like it will not only be playable, but will have a specific graphics preset to help it.

Today, a blog post went up on the PlayStation website, and it showed off Death Stranding 2's spec requirements. Now, there are four options here, and the minimum requirements do seem to be just barely playable on the Deck. The minimum asks for:

• GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB
• CPU - Intel Core i3-10100 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100
• RAM - 16GB
• Storage - 150GB SSD

And this is to run the game at 1080p resolution and 30 FPS. This is great news, as the Deck runs at 720p or 800p, which should make this easier to run. However, it sounds like there will actually be a dedicated preset for handheld devices.

In the blog post, Julian Huijbregts, communications manager for Nixxes Software, writes that they have also added a "Portable preset" which will be aimed at handheld gaming devices. It doesn't specifically list the Steam Deck, but it is worded in a way that separates it from the Low to Very High presets. The spec sheet doesn't mention a Portable preset either, which means it may not be covered on this list. If that's the case, it would be safe to imply that Nixxes Software is making special adjustments meant only for handhelds, which is just great.

Death Stranding 2 for PC offers a range of Graphics Presets from Low to Very High, catering to both budget gaming PC’s and high-end systems. We’ve also added a Portable preset, aimed at handheld gaming devices, for those Porters who want to “keep on keeping on” while on the go.

The game will also offer as many options as possible. It will have DLSS 4, FSR 4, and XeSS 2 upscaling support, frame generation options, and all of this can be used in conjunction with Dynamic Resolution Scaling. This will also be the first time we can try out Pico upscaling, which is a special upscaling developed by Guerrilla for the Decima engine that is used for Death Stranding 2. Overall, this gives me a lot of hope for the game on the Deck, and I can't wait to check it out for myself.
