We reported yesterday that AYANEO would be running a livestream today where we had hoped they would reveal the full pricing and release details for their new flagship handheld, the AYANEO 3. Well, unfortunately, that wasn't the case, but we did get some new details about the device, as well as the news that a full launch event would happen in Late January 2025 where we should expect pricing, a release date, as well as the full specs of the device.

That being said, we do have a rough idea of how the device is shaping up, so read on below to see what info we have so far, including APU, display, battery size, and more!

Firstly, let's take a look at the device specifications. As we've mentioned before, there are 2 APUs available for the AYANEO 3, those being the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, and the Ryzen 7 8840U, with the HX 370 being the more powerful of the two.

There are also 2 display options:

  • 7", 1080p, 120hz, native landscape LCD screen with VRR
  • 7", 1080p, 144hz, OLED screen

Interestingly, they don't mention native landscape on the OLED display, so it's possible it is a rotated portrait screen, which isn't the greatest news, the OLED also does not appear to have VRR support.

It seems as though the APU and display are independent of each other, so you can have an 8840U with either an OLED or LCD screen, likewise with the HX 370. The same applies to the color options as well.

The battery has been confirmed to be only 50wh, as per a Discord message by AYANEO's CEO, meaning it's smaller than the ROG Ally X's battery, and about the same size as the Steam Deck OLED battery.

The additional controller modules for the device seem to be available to be bought separately, so adding trackpads and the 6 face-button layout may cost you extra as an option when you buy the device from AYANEO. This does mean, however, that you can swap different color controller modules in and out of your device, allowing you to add some accented colors.

The devices are also confirmed to be running Windows 11. The AyaSpace app handles configuring the different controller modules, as a result, there might be issues with running other operating systems like BazziteOS unless they can get similar software that will allow you to configure the different layouts.

Here are a few real-world screenshots of the device, so you can get an idea of the dimensions as well as how it looks when not a CGI product.

We'll be back with more AYANEO 3 news when the launch event happens in Late January 2025.
