While I have been playing some Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, I have been very excited for another first-person shooter coming out next month: WARDOGS. It features 100 players across three different teams, where you will have to work together to take control of randomized zones in larger maps. It looks awesome, especially since we can use vehicles across its sprawling destructible map. And according to the developers, it sounds like playing on Linux/SteamOS and the Steam Deck may be possible in the future.

In the discussions for the game on Steam, someone asked about Linux support a few months ago. However, two days ago, one of the developers on the BULKHEAD team responded, mentioning that they don’t officially support Linux but are working on Proton support. They didn’t offer any timeframe, but it also sounds like the development to work with Proton is already moving forward.
I couldn’t be happier about this. I have been using my Steam Machine to death ever since I received it, and I would love to be able to play WARDOGS on it. With the game releasing soon, it sounds like this might not only be possible but also playable and enjoyable. I hope it is as well, because I could see myself leaning back and relaxing in bed while getting into large gun fights. I'm not sure how it will run on the Steam Deck, it does seem a little heavy based on its system requirements, so I wouldn't be surprised if it has trouble on the go.
Hopefully, this will make it in for the early access release, but in the case that it doesn’t, it will most likely be in before the 1.0 launch. Either way, I know this is something I’ll be playing and testing for myself day 1.

WARDOGS can be pre-purchased for $39.99 ahead of its September 10th release.
