The Steam Frame is almost here; I can feel it. Not only have there been a ton of new games that got their compatibility ratings recently, but there have also been so many new shipments and developments that make me feel like it’s just going to be announced before the end of July. While a lot of the compatibility ratings make sense, I do see a possible issue with Beat Saber's rating, and I would be surprised if this is accurate.

Over the last 24 hours, there have been a ton of games that got their compatibility ranges, and one of those is Beat Saber. This is one of the most well-known and enjoyable VR games since it released in 2019. However, despite it being playable on older VR devices and the standalone Quest 3, it was rated Unsupported for the Steam Frame.

Specifically, Valve notes that it is rated unsupported because the graphic settings cannot be configured to run well on the Frame. However, I do have some doubts about that one. Beat Saber has been around for quite some time and runs on other similar processors in standalone headsets, like the Quest 3. I find it hard to believe that the game wouldn’t be compatible.
On top of that, Brad Lynch on Twitter/X mentioned that he has heard from others that the game actually runs very well on the Steam Deck. However, it kind of follows the same issues that Valve has with the Steam Deck Verified system. There are lots of games that are rated Steam Deck Verified that don’t run super well (like the recently released Halo: Campaign Evolved), and games that are rated Unsupported that do. I was hoping that the system for the Frame would be more accurate, but with Beat Saber’s rating, my worries are starting to show up.

I’m looking forward to seeing how accurate this is, but there’s no doubt that I do have my worries about how accurate the system will be moving forward.
