While I love the custom Steam Deck startup videos that we can get, the ones based on video games that are sold on the Steam Point Shop can be pretty fantastic as well. There are some that can be disappointing, like The Last of Us and Days Gone, but there are some pretty fantastic ones there. Recently, it seems there is an influx of new ones, ranging from some that are just okay to some great animations, and I want them all.

Steam Deck Startup Videos

It looks like there were a good chunk of new startup movies, based on games like Hades 2, Risk of Rain, CarX Drift, Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge, and even Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit. Some of these aren't completely new. I do recall seeing the Risk of Rain videos recently, but a bulk of these are, and most of them look fantastic, especially Hades 2:

Hades 2

CarX Drift Racing Online

Retrowave 2

Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge

DR LIVESEY ROM AND DEATH EDITION (#1)

DR LIVESEY ROM AND DEATH EDITION (#2)

Risk of Rain 2

Risk of Rain Returns

UnderGirl: Submission Path

Tiny Lands 2

Stars in the Trash

POOLS

Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit

Sail Forth

The Eternal Castle (Remastered)

Lone Wolf

The Land of Pain

Boxville

Boxville 2

Biped 2

Tumblestone

For the most part, I would say these startup movies are pretty solid. There are some new ones I think are just ok, like Boxville's videos and Lone Wolf, but there are some quality options here like Hades 2, Tumblestone, Risk of Rain 2, and Tiny Lands 2. Still, even though there are some I know I will never use, I will be getting all of them because I can't help myself.

You can get the startup movie on the Steam Point Store, and it will cost 3,000 points. You get 1 point for every 1 cent you spend, so you will get the 3,000 points required if you spend $30 on the Steam store. Once purchased, you can change the startup movie in the Customization tab in your settings.
