I’ve been pretty dang excited for Valor Mortis. From the team behind Ghostrunner, this is a first-person soulslike where we will use supernatural powers to battle monsters. It takes place in the 19th century, where we will fight Napoleon’s Eternal Guard to discover the truth of why we have resurrected from the dead. It gives me some major BioShock vibes. And while it’s not confirmed yet, it sounds like the team really wants this to be running on the Steam Deck.

Recently, I reached out to developer One More Level to see if the game will have Steam Deck support. And while they couldn’t completely confirm it, they did say that they are working on optimization for handhelds and are aiming for Steam Deck support at launch. I do wish we could get more confirmation, similar to how we did with the upcoming Beast of Reincarnation, but I do like this outlook.

To me, this means that the team not only acknowledges that they want the game to be played on the Steam Deck, but they are actively working on optimizing it. This also builds well for lower-end hardware and other handhelds. With no release date set or system requirements published, it is all up in the air right now. But with how well Ghostrunner plays on the Deck, and the acknowledgment that they are aiming for support, I feel very confident that they’re going to do everything they can to make it a good experience on the go.

Valor Mortis can be wishlisted on Steam ahead of its release this year.
