Yesterday, I was browsing Bluesky, responding to comments and checking out Steam Deck-related posts, when I came across an announcement that Sonic Unleashed was natively ported to PC. I was shocked, and when I tried it out for myself, I was blown away by the results on Steam Deck. It just worked perfectly. This opened up the question for other native PC ports and whether other popular Xbox 360 games that never came to PC could get them. While nothing has been announced, the tool that is used to recompile Xbox 360 games is here, which definitely opens up some doors.

BlueDragonWallpaperXboxRecomp

XenonRecomp is a tool created by hedge-dev, the creators of the Sonic Unleashed PC Port, that is used specifically for recompiling Xbox 360 games into native executables, meaning that it converts Xbox 360 executables into C++ code that can be easily recompiled into a native executable. Theoretically, this can convert any Xbox 360 game into the code needed to be turned into an executable on computers, and my dreams of playing Blue Dragon and Perfect Dark Zero on my Deck have a possibility of coming true.

Of course, this all needs legitimate copies of the Xbox 360 games that need to be recompiled, and if anything like this is made public, you will have to provide legitimate dumps of the games as well. This means you have to have a copy of the Xbox 360 game that you purchased and a way to dump those games.

Now, all we need is someone to make native ports with enhanced features for Blue Dragon, Perfect Dark Zero, and Lost Odyssey, and I will be a very happy camper.
