The Steam Deck has long been known to be one of the cheapest handhelds to get for your handheld PC needs, and that's all thanks to the original LCD models. Up until now, Valve has been continuing to sell the 256GB LCD for $399, making it one of the best, cheaper deals to get a handheld PC, but that is no longer the case.
First noticed by GamingOnLinux, the Steam Deck LCD has been quietly discontinued by Valve. Over on the Steam Store page for the Steam Deck, we can now see a little note that says that they are no longer producing the LCD 256GB model, and once it is sold out, it will no longer be available.

Over in the US, it looks like the device is out of stock, but it may still be available in other countries. It is also possible that Valve will still sell refurbished units from time to time, but that hasn't been confirmed and is, more or less, just speculation on my part.
It is a little sad to see the end of an era, though. The Steam Deck LCD is what started the handheld PC trend we are seeing today, and while it did have some big upgrades with the OLED, it will be bittersweet now that it is gone. Still, it makes sense. The OLED is definitely better, and I highly recommend checking it out if you are still in the market for a new device.
