The Thaumaturge was one of the more interesting games I have played this year. The interesting narrative saw you go across 20th-century Warsaw using your Thaumaturge powers to manipulate individuals and conjure Salutors to help you fight. It's intriguing seeing how you will shape the story based on your choices, and with the newest update, it should be much easier to do on the Steam Deck!

Yesterday, a new patch was released for The Thaumaturge, bringing it to version 1.1. The main goal of the patch was to bring in Polish voice acting, which can make it more authentic due to the game taking place in the capital of Poland. It also contained some nice Steam Deck improvements. We have some major optimizations to get stable performance on Deck and reduced crowds of people to help the most problematic areas. Both of these combined should be extremely helpful, but it doesn't end there.

We also have a new option to tweak crowd or (community) density, which reduces CPU load, a screen resolution percentage option, and the option to tweak Volumetric Clouds. This gives us even more ways to reconfigure the game to get it running the way we want, and I am all for that! There are also a bunch of other improvements included. Controller Vibration support is now here, we have some UI and Navigation improvements, and there are a bunch of bug fixes.

You can check out the full changelog on their Steam Community Post.

The Thaumaturge is currently on a 25% off sale on Steam for $26.24 until June 10th. It is rated Steam Deck Verified! We did review the game as well, and it was playable with some hiccups here and there. It's possible the game plays significantly better now, and we will check it out again soon to verify!
