Mirthwood intrigued me when it launched last year with its design. A farming sim heavy on story and combat is always nice, although it launched in a rough state especially for the Steam Deck. A year later, the game has been gradually improving, and the devs have a new update post outlining their plans for Mirthwood over the coming few months.

A small update is part of this post that improves optimization, some balance to item costs, and balance adjustments for the early game to reduce grind, but the big key for us is the official Steam Deck Verified Badge by October. The game is already improved on the Deck, and the few final tweaks will involve adjusting the scaling to meet Valve’s badge requirements.

A major update in late October adds new content like festivals and random events, while December’s Foundations Expansion adds a big new mechanic in seafarer expansion. There’s a lot in the works for Mirthwood, and I’m looking forward to seeing more.

Mirthwood is available for $24.99 on Steam and is rated Playable due to needing a community controller configuration, showing incorrect controller icons, and small in-game text.
